Among the mountains, forests, and swimming holes of Vermont is the city of Montpelier,

at a ninety degree bend where North Franklin Street extends down the drive,

come to the “Krunkle,” a rust and blue with an extending knuckle.

Meet Ben and Ellen, with their dogs Rufus and Stella.

Down the hill slope along the trail before the river

near a mossy rock, there is a patch of gravel.

Next to that patch is a small grove of land

encircled by tall maples and saplings.

In this clearing they hope to build,

a home for friends, to share

their care and expertise.
