Build a Masonry Oven

This 3 day masonry oven program will address basic questions about construction techniques as well as compare between earthen ovens and masonry ovens.

A masonry oven is made of high temperature fire bricks and fire clay, made in a half dome on a surface of either brick or soapstone. This is then covered in layers of fireclay and typical mortar. This is an accelerated 3 day class so come ready to really work hard and laugh all day.

Day 1 Build base: 80 cement blocks, PT plywood top and pour 4" concrete slab for the pad.
Day 2 lay cooking floor, begin dome and arch for the opening mouth.
Day 3 complete dome construction and layer up the exterior dome with mortar and mortar plaster over block base.
