Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Timber Facility Supervisor with extensive expertise in glulam and DLT manufacturing. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in setting up our new facility from the ground up, overseeing daily operations, implementing procedures and policies, and fostering a collaborative team environment. This long-term position is perfect for a leader passionate about building and nurturing a skilled team, optimizing production processes, and ensuring the highest quality standards in bespoke timber structures.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Setup & Management
Establish Operations: Lead the setup of the manufacturing facility, including the installation and configuration of machinery, equipment, and robotics for secondary processing.
Procedures & Policies: Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies to ensure efficient and compliant operations.
Accreditation: Drive efforts towards achieving industry accreditation, ensuring all processes meet necessary standards and regulations.
Production Oversight
Manufacturing Supervision: Oversee the production of glulam and DLT components, ensuring precision and adherence to bespoke design specifications.
Robotics Integration: Manage the integration and operation of robotic systems within the facility to enhance secondary processing capabilities.
Quality Control & Assurance: Supervise QC and QA processes, ensuring all products meet Tridome’s stringent quality standards before shipment.
Team Leadership & Development
Team Building: Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Daily Operations: Coordinate daily workflows across various stations, including raw material handling, planning, glulam pressing, and robotic processing.
Performance Management: Monitor and evaluate team performance, providing feedback and implementing improvement strategies as needed.
Logistics & Coordination
Shipping Oversight: Manage the shipping processes, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of finished products to clients.
Material Management: Oversee the sorting and handling of raw materials, ensuring optimal inventory levels and efficient usage.
Interdepartmental Coordination: Collaborate with other departments such as planning, engineering, and logistics to streamline production processes and resolve any operational issues.
Continuous Improvement
Process Optimization: Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies and implement strategies to enhance productivity and quality.
Innovation: Stay abreast of industry advancements and incorporate best practices into facility operations.
Qualifications
Extensive Timber Experience: Minimum of 10 years in timber processing or glulam/DLT manufacturing, with a deep understanding of production techniques and machinery.
Facility Management: Proven experience in managing and setting up manufacturing facilities, preferably in a start-up environment.
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team-building abilities, with a track record of developing and managing high-performing teams.
Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of glulam and DLT production processes, including familiarity with CNC machinery and robotic systems.
Procedural Knowledge: Experience in developing and implementing SOPs, policies, and procedures within a manufacturing setting.
Accreditation Familiarity: Understanding of industry accreditation processes and standards, with experience guiding facilities through certification.
Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and decision-making capabilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Safety Compliance: Comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Timber Technology, or a related field is preferred.
